What controls us?2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf. 16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Peter 1:4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. 5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, 7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. 12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you 13 I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. (Return) What controls us? The goal of our instruction is love as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. His love fulfills the Law and is the seed of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ did not die so we could continue to live for ourselves, but that we would return the love He gave us by the way we love one another. We live for the one who died and rose again for our sake. How can we say we live for Him and do not live for those He makes His abode in? (He is the vine and we are the branches; He makes His abode in us.) We no longer live as we did before in our trespasses and sin. We are born anew with the Holy Spirit transformed by the divine nature of God’s love that He causes to dwell in us. For if the Holy Spirit dwells in us then the qualities of His nature increases with in us. Those who stray from this teaching mislead cause us to forget how He purifies us from our sin. We should put our concentration on growing in love by joining Jesus Christ n the demonstration of His love. No greater gift can we give but to lay down our life for the Vine and His branches. Our confidence is not in ourselves, but in the living way He created for us in His being; the work of the Holy Spirit. We are able to draw near to the Creator of the Universe knowing He will not fail to transform us into the image of Jesus Christ. We should not show unfaithfulness by taking the responsibility for our cleaning on to ourselves by works of the flesh. But leaving the old way of righteousness by being right, let us focus on righteousness that comes from loving others as He loves us. Our lives should now be lived with a purpose and not filled with the temporal things of this world, but with the fellowship of God and His people; striving to live according to the code of love. Seeing we have such a great calling, we should not be silent in our recommendations to those around us. We are ambassadors of the way and we should make every effort to remind each other of love, even if we already know the truth. It is our confession of what we have witnessed in Christ that we share as, we assemble together in the unity of His love. We should not find it hard to encourage one another by the events we live while abiding in the brotherhood of the cross. His work within us should cause us to arouse each other to live out His love, by the way we relate to one another. His ministry of reconciliation is not a ministry of judgment and condemnation according to the law but is reconciliation according to the nature of love, even for those who hate us. The world is in darkness of hate and needs the light of love to shine as a new dawn on the spiritual horizon. If we do not treat each other as we would treat Jesus Christ our Savior, how can we expect to look different to the world around us? We must be ambassadors by the style of our life with one another before we can be ambassadors by our words. Comments are closed. |
